WELCOME TO MES AMI SOCIAL WINE CLUB

Mes Ami is a wine tasting and social club.  The aim of the club is to not only enjoy tasting and learning about wine but also to meet new people and extend your circle of friends.

Mes Ami holds a Wine Club night twice a month and other social events – dinners at local restaurants, Quiz Nights, winery tours etc. throughout the year.

Local wineries, wineries from other wine regions or guest speakers are invited to talk us through a tasting of their wines.

Mes Ami Wine Club nights take place from the first week in February to the first week in December.

HOW MES AMI STARTED

Mes Ami Connection was founded in 2005 by a local woman who saw the gap in the market for a social club where people could meet in a friendly relaxed environment.  She thought wine tastings would be an ideal way to break the ice and she was right.

People come along often on their own or they may be new to Hawkes Bay and would like to meet new people and enjoy learning about wine at the same time.

Mes Ami is a non profit club and all profits will be reinvested into the club by way of subsidizing events etc.

WINE CLUB NIGHTS

Wine Club nights are held twice a month alternately on the 1st Wednesday and the 3rd Thursday of the month –  this may vary due to public holidays etc.  We will advise members by email of changes to the date and update our Events  calender on the website.

The invited Winery or presenter will give us a talk and take us through a tasting of a selection of their wines.

The presenter will also answer your questions and at the end of the evening it is often possible to order the wines.

The fee for attendance is $10 per Wine Club Night.  See below for membership details.

 

All Wine Club nights will be hosted at The Gin Trap, West Quay Ahuriri – Function Room unless otherwise stated.

The function room is at the far end of the bar and the door will have a Mes Ami Sign attached.

Wine Club starts at 6 pm. Please get there at least ten minutes prior to enable us to start on time.

Members will be emailed prior to Wine Club with the details of the Winery attending.

MEMBERSHIP – TERMS AND CONDITIONS

As we feel everyone who attends Mes Ami is really a member, each attendee will be given a membership card which will be stamped at each regular Wine Club meeting. Once you have 5 stamps your next attendance at Wine Club will be free (N.B. this will not apply for special events or Guest speakers if there are additional costs).  Where additional costs are incurred these will be advised well in advance.

The standard attendance fee is $10 per wine Club.

EVENTS

A number of social events are held throughout the year.  Past events have included:  dinner at local restaurants, Double Decker bus trip around some wineries, a Charity Fun Trivia Quiz Night, a Gazebo at the Art Deco Great Gatsby Picnic, an outing to The Beat Girls Concert, a Mid Winter Christmas Dinner and an end of year dinner and dance at the Mission.

MES AMI IS RUN BY A COMMITTEE

The Club is run by a committee made up of volunteers who are members of the club. They help out in their own time to make the club work and many hours are spent researching, emailing the wineries and setting up events.

The Committee meet once a month to discuss and plan the events, check our budget etc.  It is not all work though and we usually enjoy a wine tasting of our own at the meetings.

OUR SUPPORTERS AND MEMBERS

Everyone is welcome to attend – must be 18 or over to comply with Liquor Licencing Laws.

We have members ranging in age from their twenties to sixties.

A huge thanks to our wonderful supporters who regularly come along and have a great time. From the feed back that we are receiving the concept of Mes Ami is working and people are getting what they wanted from the club. We are forming great friendships, having get together’s and of course learning about wine. We learn something new every week!  

Mes Ami will only be as successful as your support and the effort you put in by coming along.
